Exploring social science data
Projects in progress
I’m in the early stages of these projects, but I’ve got some interesting basics in place. I’ll be updating this website as I work through these datasets.
Understanding the Fundamentally Different Life-Patterns of U.S. Millennial Women
Using data from a large longitudinal study (NLSY97), I look at how differently situated women put together lives with widely contrasting mixes of education, partying, sexual activity, cohabitation, churchgoing, having children, and income — and how these various mixes combine into recognizable sequenced life-patterns.
The Big Demographic Splits Driving U.S. Politics
Using an enormous dataset combining various large publicly available sources (CES, GSS, ANES, PRRI, Pew, etc.), I take a look at the highest-impact divisions involving race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, education, income, region, age/generation, work, and so on.
